Round 6 AFL Action
Stkilda and Geelong seem to be in a league of there own, continuing their dominance at the top of the ladder. The Saints silenced there interstate critics last weekend and have set themselves up for almost a certain top4 finish with the majority of there remaining games to be played in Melbourne. Garry Ablett has continued his dominance and is now a $1.90 favourite to claim the brownlow medal which he has narrowly missed the past two years. Lets take a look at this weeks action:
North Melbourne host Collingwood at Etihad Stadium and without Booma Brent Harvey it seems like a big ask for the Kangaroos to come away with 4 points from an unlucky Collingwood. The Hawks and Blues are set for a huge showdown at the MCG on Saturday with the Hawks struggling to find an early rhythym and the Blues coming off a convincing win against the Doggies.
This is a season defining game for the Hawks, you can leave your run late for the flag, but to be a real contender, you need to win games like these. My tip the hawks is to get over the line, but don’t you worry we will be there cheering for the Blues!
West Coast host Freo in the Perth Derby and the Fremantle boys will be full of confidence after a solid win over Sydney last week. But at the BBQ we are keen on the coasters, West to win in a hard fought battle. Come on the eagles! Brisbane host an Essendon that showed some real grit and Anzac spirit to claim a historic victory last Saturday. This will be a great contest, we are leaning towards the Lions here but take your pick, the Dons are great value at $2.60.
Port Host Adelaide in the “South Australian Derby” which always proves to be a physical contest and a rowdy affair. Port will be hungry to win after been smashed by the Saints, the BBQ crew will be on Adelaide but a contest like this can go either way. Tab Sportsbet have Port at $1.80 favourites.
Sydney host a the born again Tigers who showed great spirit and composure to beat the Kangaroos last weekend. Sydney have everything to lost this game, at home and expected to win, a back to back win could be on the cards for the Tigers? Lets see what they are made of at Tigerland, we are gonna have a stab and get on Richmond at$3 !
Melbourne host Geelong on Sunday at the MCG, and the odds say it all. Demons $11 and Cats $1.02 and in short its a foregone conclusion. It will be interesting to see if the Demons put up a fight and whether or not Bomber Thompson rests any players.
The final game of the round is another season defining game, with the Bulldogs and Saints playing. Tab Sportsbet have the Saints as $1.48 favourites which we believe is on the money. But if you fancy the dogs, this is great value for a team with alot of unrealised potential.
